On the following pages I will try to give an insight into the daily life with a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. Having owned an Alaskan Malamute before I was sure I would be able to cope with this also very independent and stubborn breed. Well, the things I have experienced so far proved me right in many ways but they also at times exceeded my wildest dreams!

Wolfdogs are very lively and active dogs with highly developed senses and they cannot be easily compared with other breeds. They simply are different to the prevalent dogs and it shows everyday!

When owning a wolfdog you must learn and believe me, you will learn very soon, that all the so called "good advice" and the "it´s a dog after all so it has to do this" attitude from people who maybe own an Alsatian or Golden Retriever or maybe not even a dog at all can safely be ignored! This dog has its own norm and you will need to develop your own standard in educating a wolfdog.

All in all I must say that this kind of dog needs a very strict and consequent education paired with lots of love and affection. This dog is very persevering and can live with all kinds of different life conditions. The one thing it definitely can NOT live with is: without its alpha- dog - and that is you!
